After 15 years of living in foster care, Lux decides to take control of her life and find her biological parents. She discovers that her father, Nate, is a laid-back bar owner who lives above his establishment with two roommates. Despite initial reservations, Nate signs the papers to grant Lux emancipation, but the court grants temporary joint custody to him and Lux's mother, Cate. As they work to become a family, Lux struggles to balance her old life with her new one and navigate relationships with her parents and their partners.
