Home Fires follows the lives of a group of strong and inspirational women in a rural Cheshire community during World War II. As the menfolk leave for the battlefield, the women must keep the 'home fires burning' and support each other through the challenges they face. The series stars Francesca Annis and Samantha Bond as Joyce Cameron and Frances Barden, respectively, who lead the women in their efforts to maintain their community's fabric during this difficult time. The show explores themes of female empowerment, community spirit, and personal struggle as the characters face their own unique challenges brought on by war.
