What is Waking Ned about? Toggle content

In the quaint Irish village of Tullymore, word spreads like wildfire that one of their own has won the national lottery. But when the winner, Ned Devine, is found dead from shock, his friends Jackie O'Shea (Ian Bannen) and Michael O'Sullivan (David Kelly) hatch a plan to claim the prize money for themselves. They enlist the help of the village's eccentric residents, including the lovesick "Pig" Finn (James Nesbitt) and the sharp-tongued Lizzie Quinn (Eileen Dromey), to pull off an elaborate scheme that involves fooling the lottery inspector (Adrian Robinson) and hiding the truth from the rest of Ireland. Will these lovable villagers be able to keep their secret and enjoy their newfound wealth, or will their ruse be exposed and their dreams of prosperity shattered?
