Sophie y Alex forman una pareja de jóvenes ingleses que han salido de su país natal para explorar mundo. Deciden ir a Australia, un país formado a partir de colonias penitenciarias inglesas. En Australia se les une Taylor, otro joven que está haciendo lo mismo que ellos. Poco a poco se dan cuenta de que Taylor es muy enigmático, pero no le dan más importancia puesto que cada uno tiene su personalidad. En un principio, los tres van por rutas turísticas, en las cuales predominan las playas de arenas blancas, que no están tan masificadas como las de otras partes del mundo. En un momento dado, deciden que para conocer de verdad Australia, lo mejor es que dejen de lado las zonas de turistas y se adentren en el interior del país. Conforme avanzan por las zonas interiores, Sophie y Ales se dan cuenta de que habría sido mejor no unirse a Taylor, pero ya es demasiado tarde.
