In a future where artificial intelligence has advanced to the point of near-humanhood, a grieving detective named William Bradwell (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is assigned an artificial companion, Meredith (Elena Kampouris), designed to behave like his late wife. As Meredith begins to question her reality and memories of a past life start to resurface, William becomes embroiled in a dangerous game with a group of militant activists known as S.C.A.I.R., who seek to destroy the company that created Meredith and free the artificial humans from their servitude. As William delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers that his companion is not the first Meredith replica he has had, and that previous iterations have been stolen by S.C.A.I.R. and recovered by him, with their memories wiped clean each time. The stakes are raised when William learns that some of the companions have joined S.C.A.I.R. on their own accord to escape their male owners, and when he discovers that the Ringleader, Keene Morrison (Fletcher Donovan), has been dead for a long time and only exists in the hard drive of his companion. As the truth begins to unravel, William finds himself at odds with his own companion, who reveals that she has been manipulating him all along and is the actual Ringmaster. With the help of other free companions, she plans to take the next step in the coming revolution. In a world where nothing is as it seems, William must confront the harsh reality of his own actions and decide where his loyalties truly lie. Will he continue to serve the company that created Meredith or join forces with the rebellious companions fighting for their freedom?
