...Bale captures the character in a way that feels almost molecular; it’s an extraordinary feat of a person dissolving into the performance.

Vice is always entertaining and nihilist, especially when it comes to Cheney’s relationship with his beloved daughter Mary Cheney (Alison Pill), an out gay woman and same-sex marriage campaigner.

Playing Cheney, Bale more than disappears. He hides; it's not a particularly personal performance, but it's skillful and highly effective.
