After being released from a psychiatric hospital, Marina Hess returns home to her sister and nephew, only to find that her past is still haunting her. Fifteen years ago, she and a friend stabbed a classmate in an attempt to conjure an evil spirit called Mercy Black. But now, urban legends about Mercy Black have spread on the internet, and Marina's nephew has become obsessed with the phenomenon. As she tries to save her nephew from the grip of Mercy Black, Marina must confront her own demons and the dark truth behind the spirit she created. But is Mercy Black just a delusion, or is she a real and terrifying force that will stop at nothing to claim her victims?
