Limelight tells the story of Calvero, a once-renowned stage clown who saves a young ballerina named Terry from suicide. He nurses her back to health, helps her regain her self-esteem, and ultimately, she resumes her dancing career. As Calvero tries to make a comeback, he realizes his time in the spotlight has passed, and he must come to terms with his own mortality. The movie features a memorable duet with Buster Keaton and showcases Chaplin's iconic blend of comedy and tragedy.
