Fever at Dawn tells the story of Miklós, a young Hungarian man who has just been released from a concentration camp in 1945, and is determined to start a new life despite being diagnosed with a severe lung disease that gives him only six months to live. Refusing to give up, he sends letters to 117 Hungarian girls also being treated in Sweden, hoping to find a wife and start a family. One of the girls, Lili, responds and they start corresponding, developing a love that overcomes all obstacles, including death.
