Alone in Berlin tells the story of a working-class couple, Otto and Anna Quangel, who live in Berlin during World War II. After their only son is killed in battle, they begin a silent resistance against the Nazi regime by writing postcards with messages urging people to stand up against Hitler and the war. Despite the danger of being caught and executed, they continue their campaign, placing the postcards in public places and spreading their message of resistance. As they risk their lives for their cause, they also rediscover their love for each other.
