The Kid is a western movie that tells the story of Rio Cutler, a young boy who is forced to flee with his sister Sara after he kills their abusive father in self-defense. On their journey to Santa Fe, they encounter the notorious outlaw Billy the Kid and his gang, who are being pursued by Sheriff Pat Garrett and his posse. Rio is fascinated by Billy and his legendary status, but soon learns that the reality of his life is far from glamorous. As the two groups clash, Rio must decide where his loyalties lie - with the law or with the outlaws - and make a choice that will determine the course of his future.
