In the remote town of Frostbite during the polar night when the sun doesn't rise for a month, vampires terrorize its residents. Annika moves there with her teenage daughter Saga for her to work as a doctor in the local hospital near the internationally famous geneticist, Gerhard Beckert whose sinister past as a representative for the SS in World War II looms. Saga is bored and befriends goth girl Vega, who invites her to parties. At the hospital, mysterious deaths and accidents start to occur surrounding a comatose patient Beckert has been experimenting on. Annika investigates only to be attacked by vampires, but she kills Beckert who has turned into one and escapes with her daughter as the police fight off the vampires surrounding them. As they flee in an ambulance during the terror-filled night, Saga sees her mother turn into one and realizes she has become a vampire herself.
