A pair of mysterious women, Eleanor and Clara, seek refuge in a run-down coastal town, bringing with them a dark secret that spans 200 years. They take up residence in an old hotel, Byzantium, which Clara transforms into a brothel, while Eleanor writes her life story and captivates a young man named Frank. As their past threatens to catch up with them, Eleanor's relationship with Frank deepens, and the true nature of their existence is revealed.
