Fourteen-year-old Mackenzie is sent to live with her uncle in Juneau, Alaska after her father's death and mother's hospitalization. However, her uncle's inappropriate behavior forces her to run away, and she embarks on a dangerous journey through the Alaskan wilderness to return to her mother in Seattle.
