In a fictional world where ten nations coexist, a young village boy named Dong Yilong embarks on a perilous journey to compete in a tournament that selects warriors for battle. Dong Yilong, played by Henry Lau, is determined to bring honor to his clan, Qingyuan, and represent them in the tournament. He is joined by Chu Hun, played by Peter Ho, a skilled warrior who has been labeled as a deserter among the villagers. The two encounter a young girl named Jinggang, played by Lin Chenhan, who is trying to steal a totem from another clan. They also meet Binu, played by Jiang Luxia, a former slave who seeks revenge against Chu Hun's brother, who killed her father. The tournament begins, and the Qingyuan clan manages to pass the first challenge along with two other clans. However, they are attacked by contestants from another clan who are secretly commissioned by Grand Tutor Guan, played by Him Law, to kill them before they can reach the finals. Binu returns to her old slavemaster to free other enslaved women. In the second challenge, the contestants must steal an egg from the lair of the Beast King, a monster bred for war that was abandoned after the previous war. Jinggang accidentally poisons Chu Hun with a flower, and Yilong and Jinggang grab the egg while being pursued by the Beast King. They manage to collect the cure for Hun's poison in the process and remove the crown-like headpiece embedded in the monster's scalp before it eventually gets stuck in a tunnel. Grand Tutor Guan explains to the three contestants that they will have to kill each other for the honor of being Field Marshal but is interrupted by hooded woman who takes them to magical "Mystic Forest". There, Yilong's late father explains that he is the heir to the throne of Northern Yan and shall bring balance to Central Plains. Chu Hun, enraged his team member is from Northern Yan storms off with Jinggang following. Binu meets Hun in the woods and explains that she realized she had been more trapped by her hatred of Southern Yan than her literal chains. Having changed his mind, HUngoes back to find his Team members but Jinggang is killed by Grand Tutor Guan's lackeys and hun is captured. Dong finds and buries Jing gang and meets with leader of Falcon Clan explaining that Grand Tutor Gua orchestrated the entire competition divide the clans kill the king of Southern Yan. Yilion asks him to find the leaders of other clans and bring them back, hopefully to save kingdom.
