Of Mice and Men

Of Mice and Men is a movie based on the novel of the same name by John Steinbeck, set during the Great Depression. The story follows two friends, George Milton and Lennie Small, who are traveling together in search of work. Lennie is a large, mentally disabled man with incredible physical strength, but he also has a childlike innocence and a love of soft things. George is smaller and smarter, and he looks out for Lennie like an older brother. They dream of owning their own land one day, where Lennie can tend to rabbits. The two men find work on a ranch near Soledad, where they befriend an old ranch hand named Candy and encounter the Boss's son, Curley, who dislikes them. Curley's wife flirts with both George and Lennie, but George warns Lennie to stay away from her. One day, while the men are out working in the fields, Lennie accidentally kills Curley's wife while trying to stroke her hair. Panicked, he runs away and hides in a nearby brush patch as George had instructed him to do if he ever got into trouble. George finds Lennie in the brush patch and knows they have to escape before Curley finds them. They run towards their dreamland but are caught by Curley's gang who are seeking revenge for his wife's death. In a tragic climax scene at their dream land where they were meant to start their new life free from troubles ,George realizes there's no other way out than for him to shoot his friend .
