En fin mix av poetiskt drama och ”plakatfilm” som minner om 70-talets politiska teater och TV-serier. Habilt skådespeleri och ett viktigt budskap om identitet, respekt och medmänsklighet. Jag minns väl de verkliga händelserna från nyhetssändningar...

Ole Giævers film handlar om samen Esters liv när Stortinget 1978 lät bygga en damm i Altaälven. Dramat visar att både väldigt mycket och väldigt lite hänt sedan dess.

Det mänskliga dramat är väl formulerat och dito spelat, inte minst artisten Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen i huvudrollen, och trots sin tydliga geografiska hemvist kan man se det som en universell berättelse om rätten till den egna existensen.
