In 1983, during the Cold War, a Soviet spacecraft crashed in Kazakhstan, and only one of the cosmonauts, Konstantin, survived. He was taken to an isolated military facility, where Dr. Tatyana Klimova, a young psychiatrist, was brought in to evaluate his mental state. However, Tatyana soon discovered that Konstantin had brought back an extraterrestrial life-form inside his own body without knowing it himself. The creature came out during the night, while its host was asleep. Colonel Semiradov revealed to Tatyana that she was there to determine how to separate Konstantin and the creature since they seemed to have developed a completely symbiotic relationship.
