In search of the American dream, a down-on-his-luck businessman named Kenny Wells (Matthew McConaughey) takes a risk and teams up with a geologist to search for gold in the uncharted jungles of Indonesia. Despite the odds against them, they strike it rich and their discovery sets off a chain of events that transforms Wells' life into a whirlwind of fortune and celebration. However, their success is short-lived as they soon realize that their mine has been shut down by the Indonesian government, and they must fight to regain control of their business. With the help of his geologist partner, Mike Acosta (Edgar Ramirez), Wells comes up with a plan to win back their mine and secure their place in the cutthroat world of Wall Street.
