Then and Now
After Stella (Lucy Hale) puts her and Wes's (Elliot Knight) life on social media, they find themselves defending their relationship to the world and forcing them to question what the future holds for them. Peter's (Dylan Walsh) health scare makes him realize who he really wants to be with. Meanwhile, Aiden (Jayson Blair) doesn't want to give up on his dream of the bar and clamors to find a solution.
Stella (Lucy Hale) is desperate to talk to Wes (Elliot Knight), but a problem at the bar keeps getting in the way. Trying to focus on her new job at the hospital, Stella discovers some concerning information about Wes. Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Ida (Gillian Vigman) celebrate their last anniversary in an unusual way. Meanwhile, the Abbott family comes to a standstill when someone other than Stella gets sick.
Stella (Lucy Hale) and Wes (Elliot Knight) feel like they are finally in a good place but they soon find that staying in that good place is harder than they thought. Stella is given the opportunity to help plan an event for the hospital, which touches a nerve for Dr. Grant (guest star Riley Smith). Aiden (Jayson Blair) spends money without consulting Wes, forcing Wes to find an investor that no one is happy about. Meanwhile, Peter (Dylan Walsh) learns about Ida's (Gillian Vigman) dream and has to decide if he will help her make it real.

Meanwhile, Peter's (Dylan Walsh) relationship seems to be going well, but he has to make a tough decision about who comes first.

When Stella (Lucy Hale) and Wes (Elliot Knight) start discussing their future, they learn some news that neither expected. After discussing the issue with Lizzie (Brooke Lyons), Stella realizes that she might not be as ready for the future as she thought. Normally a ladies man, Aiden (Jayson Blair) realizes he has unfamiliar feelings for a girl at his community service job which puts him in uncharted waters. Meanwhile, Diego's (Carlos PenaVega) plan to impress his new boss at brunch turns awkward when both Ida (Gillian Vigman) and Peter (Dylan Walsh) are interested in her.
Sleepless Near Seattle
Stella (Lucy Hale) suddenly finds herself on a road trip with Dr. Grant (guest star Riley Smith) and Sadie (Nadej Bailey) to help get Sadie into a clinical trial. While Stella (Lucy Hale) is away, Wes (Elliot Knight) gets a call from his ex about a job opportunity. Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Aiden (Jayson Blair) try to find a new normal between them, and Aiden discovers an unexpected new friend. Meanwhile, Lizzie (Brooke Lyons) and Diego (Carlos PenaVega) learn that their son is being bullied at school, which brings out a new side of Diego.

With Aiden (Jayson Blair) facing a growing problem, he keeps the faith that Peter (Dylan Walsh) will keep him out of trouble. Stella (Lucy Hale) struggles with not telling Aiden the truth about who really tipped of the police. Wes (Elliot Knight) is not happy when he sees Dr. Grant (guest star Riley Smith) performing at the bar. Meanwhile, Lizzie (Brooke Lyons) and Diego (Carlos PenaVega) struggle with making the right choice about the twins' academics.

When Stella (Lucy Hale) and Wes (Elliot Knight) agree to always tell each other the truth, it becomes a problem for Wes when it comes to Dr. Grant (guest star Riley Smith). Stella helps Aiden (Jayson Blair) get a job at her coffee shop, but she soon begins to notice Aiden is up to something. When Stella reaches out to Wes and her family for help with the situation, they all agree that Aiden needs to figure it out on his own. Meanwhile, Lizzie (Brooke Lyons) and Diego (Carlos PenaVega) are trying to get things back to normal with the kids.
Wes Side Story
Stella (Lucy Hale) feels like she and Wes (Elliot Knight) need to get back into a romantic rhythm, but things take a turn when Wes gets a surprise visitor. Aiden (Jayson Blair) is torn over whether or not he should tell his father (Dylan Walsh) the truth about the woman he is dating. Meanwhile, Ida (Gillian Vigman) seems to be struggling with Peter's new relationship which starts to cause problems in her own life.

When Stella decides to apply for a manager position, she learns another secret about her past, forcing her to figure out what she really wants to do with her life. Knowing that they need money, Wes starts secretly working on a project which upsets Stella. With the house sold, Peter and Aiden find themselves in an interesting living situation. Meanwhile, Aiden is ready to take on the responsibility of being a father, but learns some shocking news that changes things.
Clinical Trial and Error
As Stella (Lucy Hale) settles into her new volunteer role as Patient Advocate, she learns that Sadie (guest star Nadej Bailey) doesn't have anyone to fight for her. Stella suggests Sadie try the clinical trial that worked for her, but their hopes are dashed when they learn that the trial has ended. While Wes (Elliot Knight) is babysitting Diego's (Carlos PenaVega) kids, one of them gets sick, and Ida (Gillian Vigman) offers her help. Meanwhile, Aiden (Jayson Blair) pushes his father (Dylan Walsh) to have a guy's night out to help him move on from Ida.
Re-Inventing the Abbotts
When the INS unexpectedly shows up to Stella (Lucy Hale) and Wes' (Elliot Knight) apartment to check the legitimacy of their marriage, they realize that they need to defend their marriage or Wes might be deported back to London. Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Ida (Gillian Vigman) decide to sell the house, but when an offer comes in, Peter hesitates on following through. Stella tries to help Aiden (Jayson Blair) step up to his responsibilities and to stop avoiding reality. Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons) is having writer's block and Stella thinks she has a fix, but Elizabeth's husband Diego (Carlos PenaVega) is not overjoyed by the idea.
When Stella (Lucy Hale), a young woman who has spent the last eight years living like she was dying, finds out that her cancer has been cured, she is suddenly forced to face the long-term consequences of the "live in the moment" decisions she made, including marrying a total stranger. She also finds out that her "perfect family" isn't so perfect after all and everyone in her life hid their problems from her. Stella is shocked to learn that her parents, Peter (Dylan Walsh) and Ida (Gillian Vigman), have fallen out of love, her sister, Elizabeth (Brooke Lyons), gave up her own dreams to start a family with her husband Diego (Carlos PenaVega) to take care of her, and her often overlooked brother, Aiden (Jayson Blair), who's pushing 30 and still lives above the garage, sells Adderall to soccer moms and uses Stella's cancer to guilt them into sleeping with him. Meanwhile, Stella's husband Wes (Elliot Knight), begins to worry that he can't continue to pretend to be her perfect husband for the rest of his life. With a real future suddenly in front of her, Stella's cinematic life snaps into reality, and instead of living like she's dying, she will have to learn to live like she's living, and help her family and friends do the same.
