A Shot in the Dark is a comedy-mystery film featuring the bumbling detective Inspector Clouseau. When a murder occurs at the home of millionaire Benjamin Ballon, Clouseau is called to investigate, despite his reputation for incompetence. He becomes smitten with the main suspect, Maria Gambrelli, and is convinced of her innocence, much to the dismay of his superior, Commissioner Dreyfus. As more murders occur, Clouseau's theory about Maria's innocence leads to a series of mishaps and misadventures, testing the patience of Dreyfus and putting Clouseau's own life in danger. Will Clouseau be able to solve the case and prove Maria's innocence before it's too late?
