Boris Pochenko, le dictateur d'un petit pays de l'Est anciennement communiste, cherche un précepteur américain pour ses trois enfants. Grushinsky, son émissaire à New York, embauche par erreur la ravissante Joy Miller, une jeune esthéticienne.
