Ip Man travels to San Francisco with his son, but their arrival is met with tension and hostility. Ip's student, Bruce Lee, has opened a kung fu school and is teaching non-Chinese people martial arts, which has upset the local martial arts community. Ip must confront this racism and defend his son, while also navigating the complexities of being a foreigner in a new country. Along the way, he encounters a group of corrupt Marines who are determined to shut down the Chinese martial arts community. Ip must use his skills and knowledge of Wing Chun to protect his son and defend against those who seek to oppress him.
