House Party - Fake it till you make it

...even though it goes a little off the deep end, House Party is still a fun time as long as you take it for what it is -- a love letter to the original.

Jacob Latimore charms in this uneven reboot of the 1990 comedy, which skates by on celebrity cameos and a lavish set piece.

Latimore and Cole are okay leads, with Cole impressing all the more once you realize he’s not doing his natural accent.

While this remix of "House Party" may leave some nostalgic for the original, it smartly doesn't try to copy the first film. However, it does stay true to the first version's celebration of friendship.
