A Dog's Journey is a heartwarming adventure that follows the life of a dog named Bailey, who is reincarnated multiple times to protect and care for his human family. After being reborn as a St. Bernard/Australian Shepherd, Bailey lives with his owner Ethan, Ethan's wife Hannah, and their granddaughter CJ on their farm in Michigan. However, Gloria, CJ's mother and Ethan's daughter-in-law, is an inattentive mother who hates dogs and eventually moves out with CJ. Before Bailey is euthanized due to a tumor, Ethan asks him to take care of CJ in his next life. Nine years later, Bailey is reincarnated as a female beagle named Molly and finds CJ, now 11 years old, with her best friend Trent Mahoney. Remembering his promise to Ethan, Molly runs outside to CJ and becomes her secret pet. As CJ grows up, she and Molly become increasingly close, along with Trent and his dog Rocky. Now a teenager, CJ tells Trent she wants to drop out of high school and move to New York City to pursue her dreams. The film follows Bailey's journey through multiple lives filled with love, friendship, and devotion as he protects and cares for his human family.
